HOLIDAY HELPER: What is your favorite recipe shortcut or quick tip for holiday entertaining in a flash?

Tip #1 from Debbie B. in Grand Rapids, MN When friends ask if they can bring a dish to your party or holiday meal...say Yes! You'll have more time to spend mingling, your guests will enjoy the variety, and you may learn a new recipe or two.
Tip #2 from Ashley K. in Burke Prepare quick simple grilled appetizers, such as stuffed mushrooms bought at your local grocery store.
Tip #3 from Lisa D. in Neillsville, WI Bake the desserts the day before if possible.
Tip #4 from Kris in Brooklyn, MI We love the holidays and enjoy leftovers for several days after. The one thing we never have leftovers of is the apple pie I make with my grandma's recipe. Last year, I did have plenty of extra apples so I made the kids fried apples to go with the leftovers. It's simple and easy to make just enough to feed a few people and uses up any leftover apples. You just peel and slice 2 small apples per person, put in a fry pan with a 1 tablespoon of butter per person, cook over medium heat and add in brown sugar and cinnamon to taste. Fried apples also make a nice topping for ice cream or for oatmeal.
